Nationally recognized local artist Charlie Amos is a retired railroad engineer from Cumberland, MD. Artist Charlie and his wife Mary spend their non-summer months in Hanover, where Charlie is a member of the Rotary Club. In 2005, the Club commissioned Charlie to paint a downtown Hanover scene to benefit a local charitable organization. Charlie researched various periodicals and spoke to local historians prior to selecting "Downtown Hanover - Circa 1938", the last full year of operation for the Hanover Trolley Car. The Rotary Club selected the Sweet Charities Cancer Patient Fund http://www.sweetcharitiesinc02.com/ to be the primary recipient of the proceeds from the sale of the limited edition 250 signed/numbered lithographs, artist proofs, remarques, canvas transfers and the original painting.
